So I didn’t know I was going to check out on you so completely over the Thanksgiving break. Don’t take it personally. I checked out on everyone, pretty much, except for my people who live at my house. I’d call it a deep recharge, but I don’t really feel that recharged.
I started writing a “even this year be thankful” post, but everything I came up with sounded all preachy and obnoxious, so it never got out of my head.
(Not opposed to preachy and obnoxious. Just don’t want to burn that oil on this.)
We enjoyed our annual screening of Planes, Trains and Automobiles, this time on Blu-ray. I mused that John Hughes was one of the primary cultural architects of the 1980s, and then wondered who else might make such a list, perhaps for a future blog post series. Lea cooked an amazing Thanksgiving dinner for the four of us, and we went and saw my dad for a couple of hours afterward. I didn’t gain any weight. The Iron Bowl went satisfactorily. Nathan and I had an excellent growth moment centered around a lost key and a padlock that consequently had to be destroyed.
Now it’s Monday, and cold—but there are only three full weeks to go before the Christmas/New Year’s break.
