Thursday miscellanea #615

  • Dad is 78 today. Happy Birthday! I love you!
  • My, but wasn’t I dismissive of Yellowstone last week! Coming clean: yes, I’m watching it. The first season was a bit of a slog in places, and the writing is occasionally straight-up terrible. (Like, George Lucas love scene terrible.) This is not a great show. But it is a good one.
  • I finally fired Dr. Squatch. I didn’t fire high-quality cold process soap, though. Watch for a report soon on what I’m doing now.
  • Yeah, and I’m going to buy at least one more watch too. I forgot I had rejoined Watch Gang. This will be my second platinum tier watch. I’ll make a decision about staying in or getting out after I receive it.
  • It’s 2022 and I’ve never Ubered or Lyfted. I’m not saying I wouldn’t, necessarily, but I’ve just never had the need. (Or maybe I have and I solved it a different way without ever considering Uber or Lyft.)
  • As much as my affection for road and street courses has grown, IndyCar’s heritage, and my true love, is oval racing. Very pleased to hear Roger Penske say that’s where the sport needs growth, and delighted to have Iowa back on the schedule this year. (If you think a short track has to be slow, you’ve never seen IndyCars ripping around Iowa.)
  • My daughter chose Amelia as her name, and her first choice for a nickname/what to be called was Mia. However, what has gotten traction in her life is Amy. I’m trying to make that effort now. We’ll see.
