Thursday miscellanea #609

  • It’s a COVID-19 wonderland! Is this near-ubiquity the nudge we need to finally move away from hysterical overreactionism?
  • On that note, our in-person church attendance seems headed back up. I’m so glad to see that. We’ve got some initiatives this year that I’m excited about.
  • I’ve been sharing my Wordle results on social media, like many people who are playing. I think I’m going to stop, though. I hang out with scores of people who are just as good at it as I am, and I’m not sure I’m interested in sharing all the time unless I can be bragging when I do it. (He admitted.) How many days in a row is a lot without failing? Maybe 100? Maybe I’ll share that if I get there.
  • I haven’t been to our Trader Joe’s yet. This was exactly the sort of night I had semi-planned to go (bitterly cold and after Christmas bills have arrived). Maybe I’ll give it a shot next week.
  • The fourth Matrix movie is not as bad as the other two sequels, but neither is it anywhere near required viewing. Pretending The Matrix has no sequels remains the most satisfying path.
  • Aaron and I were pumped for the NFL wild card weekend, only to be swatted on the nose with blowouts we thought would be competitive and games that were compelling for the wrong reasons. Hoping this weekend is better. I’m not saying anything out loud though, and I’m not planning any special food or anything. Maybe we can sneak up on some good games.
  • Alabama’s Human Trafficking Summit is in two weeks. If you want to join this war, or if you’re already part of it but want one hell of a shot in the arm, give this your serious consideration. I’ll see you there.
