As I type, the latest armed conflict in Israel is one month old.
That ostensibly intelligent people suppose that this conflict is morally ambiguous, or even otherwise difficult to understand in any way, infuriates me.
I believe this perceived ambiguity about the unambiguous has developed largely because our esteemed president has fostered it.
- Israel is a sovereign country, and has been so for more than 60 years.
- Hamas is internationally recognized as a terrorist organization, and has been so since its inception in 1987.
- Israel is free, democratic, and peace-loving.
- Hamas explicitly calls for the annihilation of Israel in its charter.
- Israel withdrew entirely from Gaza in 2005, even evicting some of its own people by force.
- Hamas fires rockets and missiles at Israel from Gaza.
- Israel defends itself, attempting to destroy those who would destroy her.
- Hamas moves its fighters and weapons to places like schools and hospitals.
- Israel takes great care to minimize civilian casualties. Human lives are valuable.
- Hamas takes great care to maximize civilian casualties. Human lives are valuable—propaganda.
No other country in the world would be expected to accept naked terrorist aggression—aggression that results in homeland death and destruction—without defending itself.
This is not like vs. like. This is a country that would dearly love to never fire another shot opposing a group of subhuman monsters hell-bent on its obliteration. If Hamas lays down its arms, there will be peace. If Israel lays down its arms, there will be no Israel.
I’m appalled that the United States is not only not supporting Israel, but actively antagonizing it.
And I’m appalled that more people aren’t appalled at that.

You are 100% spot on. Where is the outrage at Hamas using civilians, including children, as human shields? And how is Israel catching all the blame when all they’re doing is fighting for their very survival? The apathy of the uninformed, disengaged public is appalling. Not to mention the complete disinterest and vacuity coming from Washington.
“Cease-fire ends,” I read this morning in no less than five places.
Yup. Apparently it just ended.
That it ended because Hamas resumed firing rockets was apparently too hard to report.
