The Democrats are saying they have the votes. The Republicans are saying they don’t. What else is new? Supposedly, we’ll know in a few hours.
I think passage would be bad, obviously. As we’ve been over time and again, this massive socialistic push has nothing to do with the will of the American people. It’s about fundamentally altering the relationship between the people and “their” government. It’s about creating dependence on the state. It’s about the continuing destruction of the individual as the most important society-building force.
I still can’t shake the feeling that when it comes down to it, our esteemed elected officials won’t do something this stupid. (But I felt the same way about the voting populace putting Obama in office.) Either way, it won’t be over. If it fails, applaud, but with restraint. If it passes, let not your heart be troubled. Rest assured there are Plan Bs, and neither laughter nor tears should distract us from them for long.
