Republicans cannot stop “health care reform,” so stop pretending they can

You know, Saintseester pointed this out a few weeks back, and it’s been steadily grating on me the longer this whole health care “reform” debacle has gone on.

These proposed policies’ proponents keep squawking about building consensus, and getting something done “for the American people,” and so forth.  And shucks darn it all, they’d be able to do it too, but for these damned Republicans who are standing in the way of all that is decent by daring to ask questions about liberty and the wisdom of federalizing a seventh of the economy, and “paying for it” with deficit dollars.

Y’all have the numbers to do anything you want.  You can’t be stopped.  Do you hear me?  You can’t be stopped, even by completely unified opposition.

So you push it through, you wimps.  Not one more word about Republican obstructionism.  It’s a phantasm, designed to shield you from what you know will be particularly grave consequences from this massive appropriation of power.  You know it.  I know it.  But you seem determined not to ask any real questions—any questions residing in that massive middle you’re excluding—so let’s get to it.

Pass some massive power grab, and then feel the consequences in 2010.

  1. Ah, yes. Every time Len & I sit down in front of Fox News and the Dems start the litany of Republican obstructionism, etc, ad nauseum, I end of screaming at the TV, “Just STFU! If EVERY single Republican (House and Senate) votes Nay, YOU WILL STILL WIN!!!” How f**king stupid do they think we are? Oh, wait, I know the answer to that. Never mind.

Honestly, I know I have a degree in mathematics, but it’s just simple arithmatic, really. We (Repubs) absolutely do not have the numbers. Period.

Heard the latest about “drafting” doctors??

  2. Not only are they deflecting the opposition toward the Republicans when they know it comes from their own constituents, the latest desperation showed up when they singled out a media station. They aren’t worried that the republicans might be watching and listening to conservative media, they are worrying that the more moderate democrats and independents are listening and agreeing. Therefore, the ebil right-wing media machine must be stopped. (Wah wah wah).

  3. Oh! And another thing. Obviously, politics plays a role in something as trivial as who can and cannot own a tiny percentage of a football team. So, I suppose politics will never factor into who can and cannot receive a new kidney?
