Friday miscellanea

The four-day weeks always trick me. The day off is nice, but then the remaining days get it back.

(You know, actually I spent most of Monday clearing simultaneously-appearing-but-apparently-unrelated service codes from the truck and changing the serpentine belt on the Nissan, which was not difficult but was tedious and knuckle-busting, so I’m not even sure it was a day off.)

I had a wonderful experience at Brewer High School yesterday morning. One of the students in Brewer’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America chapter is looking at human trafficking for her FCCLA project, and reached out to the task force to speak to her chapter. I spent about an hour with them and received positive feedback from both the student and her faculty advisor. It is marvelous to see bright young people on fire for this cause.

While we’re on the topic, I hope you’re planning to come tomorrow to our free event Human Trafficking: Alabama’s Ongoing Fight, featuring Alabama Assistant Attorney General Audrey Jordan and Special Agent Cameron Perry. The event is from 10-12 tomorrow morning at Bryant Bank in Huntsville, in the Community Room. It’s a chance to hear directly from front-line warriors—and it’s in the morning, so you won’t miss the playoffs.

My wonderful friend Cheryl sent me a selection of Melinda’s hot sauces as a surprise following our reunion on the Precious Hearts Tour! What a nifty thing to come home to. I’m looking forward to getting into them this weekend. I’ll have to select game food accordingly.

The blogging I meant to do all week wound up being the above. I’m sorry, loyal readers. My usual money-back guarantee does remain in full force, however. More better stuff in the coming days.

Have a good weekend.
