The (acute) HVAC saga is over. After completing a repair correctly twice, I continued to have trouble, and Dad remained confused trying to help me by text and telephone, because we weren’t thinking like crooks. After he got a look at it on Saturday, he corrected a clear sabotage, and full operation is restored. Grateful to have it off my mind for the first time in almost two months. (Well, this acute situation off my mind for the first time in two months.) Watch this space for further.
Guitar virtuoso Jeff Beck has died at 78. I first really listened to and enjoyed him on his 1985 album Flash, which I understand he all but disowned in later years. He was, of course, also a Yardbird and an accomplished collaborator with many rock legends. Thank you for the music, sir. RIP.
I was today years old when I learned that the Kiss song “Great Expectations,” which appears on an album I’ve owned continuously since I was five years old, quotes Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 8.
It’s never been about anyone coming for your installed gas stove, but yes, “they” were talking about banning them in new construction. That talk has been walked back now, which is little comfort for all of the reasons.
