Got shot #2 today. No issues eight hours in.
NASA has produced breathable oxygen from carbon dioxide in the Martian atmosphere. Wow!
I finished Slaughterhouse-Five last night. Still digesting it and I’m sure I’ll read it again, but my initial impression is that it’s some of the funniest and most biting black humor I’ve ever encountered.
Thanks to a subscription quantity that turned out to be too much during a stay-at-home pandemic and an (eventual) double shipment, I have about 20 bars of Dr. Squatch soap in stock. That’s most of a year’s supply, so I’m set for a while, but I’m not happy with the Dr. Squatch folks. The shipping has gotten really erratic, and I discovered during a brief time in a private Facebook group that the company basically encourages hoarding. (That’s why I consistently miss out on limited offerings; see, I buy soap like, well, a normal person.) I may investigate a switch next winter. There are several companies making high-quality cold-process soap now.
I remain conflicted about self-checkout as a concept. However, one thing I learned today that I definitely do not like is a store employee asking me if I need any help, me saying I’m ready to check out, and the employee inviting me to use the self-checkout.
Got my first up-close-and-personal look at a C8 today. It’s very much a low-slung, exotic vibe now—and it also looks like if I ever got in one I’d die in it, like a turtle on its back.
So excited the IndyCar season has started! Congratulations to Alex Palou on a fantastic first win at Barber last week. Alas, we’ve punted on the Indianapolis 500 again this year. They’re holding capacity to 40%, so the Speedway is again issuing credits for future events. Here’s hoping 2022 is unrestricted.
