The earth has been around for about 4.5 billion years, give or take a few million.
I have no interest in debating this. In the face of tremendous evidence to the contrary, I find the notion that the earth is merely a few thousand years old completely absurd.
However, it is not necessary that you hold my position to be my friend. I have many friends who do believe in a young earth. Such a position stems primarily from a literal reading of the Bible, underpinned with a dogmatic belief that it is wholly incompatible with science. Perhaps it has been bolstered by authority figures influential in their lives.
Whatever the reasons, I’m not going to debate it. That I understand how people have arrived at the position makes it no less ridiculous to me.
Joe Biden won the 2020 U.S. presidential election.
I have no interest in debating this. In the face of tremendous evidence to the contrary, I find the notion that Donald Trump actually won the election and his victory has been stolen completely absurd.
However, it is not necessary that you hold my position to be my friend. I have many friends who do believe in a 2020 Trump victory. Such a position stems primarily from confirmation bias, aggravated by woefully insufficient variety in news and opinion consumption. Perhaps it has been bolstered by relentless duckspeak with fellow believers.
Whatever the reasons, I’m not going to debate it. That I understand how people have arrived at the position makes it no less ridiculous to me.
