Thursday miscellanea #630

We had such a good time seeing Nate Bargatze last week! It was all new material, and he went for an hour and nine minutes, by my watch. He has a narrative style that puts him closer to the raconteur line than nearly all of his ostensible peers. (And it looks easy, but it isn’t.)
I initially thought Deion Sanders coaching at Jackson State was just a gimmicky stunt, but doubtless he’s done a fine job. I wish him well at Colorado, where not a whole lot has happened since they split the national title with Georgia Tech in 1990.
I first tried to listen to Quadrophenia maybe 20 years ago and it didn’t take. I’m having a much better go at it this time. I can remember my Uncle Larry loving this album, which vaguely pains me. (It’s a tour de force, but a happy tale it is not.) I’m amazed at how much more I appreciate the music now.
Kirstie Alley has died at 71. Haven’t seen many mentions of this appearance of hers, so I’ll add it to her Google footprint: she was smokin’ hot as Gene Simmons’ character Dr. Charles Luther’s girlfriend Jackie in Runaway. RIP.
The Shrimp Basket on US 72 in Madison has closed permanently. Lea and I went occasionally and enjoyed it. Here’s hoping something good comes in.
The defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams are 3-9 going into tonight’s rumble with the Raiders. Wow. Hey, maybe Baker Mayfield will come out and throw for 300 yards and 4 TDs.
I think I had an incredible idea last night. I’m going to sit with it in my head for a bit and make notes, maybe until just after the first of the year, and then see about an actionable plan.
