Thursday miscellanea #608

There is plenty of chatter out there about Georgia’s 33-18 victory over Alabama to win the 2021 national championship, and beyond this bullet and a single tweet, I won’t add to it. Congratulations to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
I decided to give Titan Power Plus USB-C cables a try after encountering an advertisement for them. Don’t bother. Despite their claims, they won’t work with a rapid charger (and that’s what initially attracted me). It also took two and a half weeks to get them, and the email is way too chipper and frequent, almost like you’ve joined a cult. The cables seem of reasonable quality so I’m not bothering with sending them back, but I won’t be getting any more.
Amelia is off to school for this semester. It was such a marvelous time having her home for the holidays. That is a tremendous blessing that seemed sorrowfully out of reach more recently than I care to consider.
Apocalypse Now Redux is on Netflix right now. Despite Apocalypse Now being one of my all-time favorites, I didn’t watch Redux until this week. I’ll digest it for a while, but my initial impression is that it’s interesting, but inferior to the theatrical release. (I’ll also add that it’s significantly easier to see how fat Brando is in it, which is very.) Maybe I’ll wait another 20 years and watch Final Cut.
I switched to Brave this week. I’m digging it. I should have done it a long time ago. (Somewhat sheepishly, I’ll admit that the final straw was that I couldn’t use Capital One Shopping with Opera.)
Snow Sunday? I think this is the third day in a row they’ve said “yes,” not “maybe.” So we’ll see.
