Thursday miscellanea #607

  • Wow. We really did have a tornado warning on one day and a winter storm warning the following day. As I type it’s just wet, but whatever water isn’t gone from the roads in the next hour or so will be frozen for the following 18 or so.
  • Today is the anniversary of the deadly, insurrectionist Capitol violence planned and stoked by Donald Trump and his sycophants. I’ve only paid superficial attention to what’s being said about it, but on that limited basis it doesn’t sound like a new era of peace and understanding is upon us.
  • I visited Rome, Georgia for the first time in my life over the Christmas break to see my grade school friend Caroline. We had a great time. She showed me Berry College, where her son graduated. It is the largest contiguous college campus in the world (over 27,000 acres). Would you have guessed such was right there in northwestern Georgia?
  • The 2022 Alabama Human Trafficking Summit is February 4 in Montgomery. This is a phenomenal event that is always full of interesting and engaging speakers and sessions, and CLE, CEU, and APOST credits are available. Register here.
  • I have walked out in the middle of Cobra Kai. The fifth episode of the fourth season is the last one I’ll watch. This was an interesting idea, but they’re squeezing it much too hard. There isn’t enough material here for dozens and dozens of episodes, and it shows in the threadbare storytelling.
  • In other better streaming news, we get a new episode of Vera on Sunday, and The Book of Boba Fett seems good and promising so far.
  • I still have significant changes in the pipeline for BoWilliams.com, but they’re going to be more gradual after I discovered that I have only about two-thirds of the vision and maybe half the motivation necessary to do a big rollout all at once. Thanks for reading. Stay tuned.
