Today Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States.
I don’t align with very many of Biden’s positions, and I didn’t vote for him. I do wish him well, as I do every incoming president. Certainly I am looking forward to him being more mannerly and dignified than his predecessor, though to be fair, that bar is a low one.
And though Kamala Harris and I are similarly out of step on a lot of the issues, I’m glad to be here to see the first woman elected as Vice President of the United States.
I wrote four years ago that I was hoping for exceeded expectations. Today I have that same hope. Whatever happens, I’m confident we can anticipate a lot more “politics as usual,” and that’s going to be good for a bluster-fatigued country.
Good luck and God bless, President Biden.
