- Thanks to Charlie Daniels for his life well-lived, and the parts we were able to enjoy with him. It’s quite an accomplishment to be that significant a contributor to popular culture. (Personal favorite: “The Legend of Wooley Swamp.”) RIP.
- I missed that we had an Amazon fulfillment center in Bessemer until I saw it listed in my package tracking this afternoon. Very cool, and should be excellent for the local economy. Hope there is a cascade.
- The football dominoes have begun falling in earnest. The Ivy League canceled all fall sports, and multiple conferences are eliminating non-conference games.
- I have ordered two of these knives, and they probably rate as my most frivolous purchases during the lockdown. At least they’re still practical tools. Wow, they’re nice.
- Marie Sharp’s has a new-to-me sauce called Smokin’ Marie, which displaces BEWARE as the hottest sauce in the lineup. I won’t do a full-up review, but it’s tasty, hot, and very smoky. Taste it before you slather it.
- As of Tuesday at 5 pm, masks are required in public places in Madison County. I hope there is widespread compliance, and I hope there is a corresponding drop in infection rate.
- IndyCar has a Saturday-Sunday double-header at Road America this weekend. Looking forward to it.
