  • I doubt I’ll feel any need to add my extended editorial voice to the Urban Meyer noise. For now this piece sounds right. If he knew, he should be fired.
  • I might be watching The Mist now. I’m not sure. I loved the novella. I thought the feature film was serviceable up until they radically changed the ending. So I wondered “how do they make a TV series out of it?” Well, they introduce a ton of characters who weren’t in the source material, that’s how. So far it’s above my threshold, but not by much. I’ll decide for sure after episode three this evening.
  • I am reading Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential, which I chose after my restaurateur friend Scott mentioned it as a highly influential book in his life. I’m enjoying Bourdain’s storytelling, even though I never worked in a large commercial kitchen.
  • Star Wars Episode IX began shooting yesterday. Carrie Fisher will return as Leia, using footage originally shot for Episode VII, with her family’s blessing. Release date is December 20, 2019 and I already can’t wait.
  • Concerned that you’ll miss your first extraterrestrial anal probing because you were asleep or otherwise indisposed? Amazon.com has you covered for under $100. You’re welcome.
  • According to grassroots organization 565 Inc., efforts to bring a large music festival back to Huntsville have failed because of unspecified resistance from city leadership. Huntsville? Any comment?
  • Got the first little taste of a break in the weather last night when I took some trash to the street. Still a long way to go—but not as long as it was a month ago. (And to be fair, though the temperature hasn’t wavered much, it’s been much hotter than this in recent years.)
