For work attire, I should be mostly into my polos by now. Instead I am still wearing oxfords and even sweaters about as often, because winter won’t quite let go.
There is ample bitching about this. I don’t mind it at all. In fact, I prefer it. It retards insect reproduction. It keeps our comfort costs slanted more toward gas and less toward electric. And there have been a few more good nights to have chili or chicken noodle soup.
Think back to many recent springs, in which it seemed like Easter came, and then we never saw highs in the 70s again until October. Do you really want that? You know, once the hot switch flips around here, it generally stays flipped. A warm day or two during the winter is much more common than a genuinely cool patch in the summer.
Consider carefully just how much you want to squawk about the weather right now. Those days for which the air seems to have been replaced with cheese dip; those nights of walking to the mailbox at 9 pm and still needing a shower when you return to your house—they’ll be here soon enough.

Nope. I hate it. I like it to be hot. There are usually a few weeks at the end of summer in the worst, steamy parts, that I do not enjoy, but for the most part, I can tolerate 100 and humid better than windy, frigid days.
Of course I know I tolerate the heat better than most of the people I know, even those accustomed to it. I am always cold and uncomfortable indoors once a/c weather rolls in, because everybody turns it too damn low.
And you’re like this now. Imagine what you’ll be like when you get sure enough old and you move into the “incubator” level of heating your home. 🙂
My home is still freezing because I am a cheap bastardich.
It’s only 77 degrees out, and my office is freezing over.
