Scott Walker wins recall election by 7 points

“Tonight we tell Wisconsin, we tell our country, and we tell people all across the world that voters really do want leaders who stand up and make the tough decisions.” – Governor Scott Walker (R-Wisconsin)

You know, Democrat challenger Tom Barrett might have had a chance, if President Obama had only spent a little political capital making an appearance or two with him.  (Oh, but there’s that troubling little matter of this being 2012, not 2008.  Obama has a record now, not gassy platitudes.  Not so hopey-changey.  Not so much political capital.  I wonder if he at least waved from Air Force One on his way over to Minnesota for a fundraiser?)

So the takeaway narratives for the lockstep libs include faux outrage at the out-of-state contributions Walker received.  (Any such indignation at, oh, the New York Teamsters busing in “protesters” last year?  Not likely.)  Also, this tells us absolutely nothing about the mood and direction of the U.S. electorate.  (Want to read one of the first of many breathless declarations of just how little this has to do with anything in November?)

Here’s for cool heads prevailing.  Here’s for fiscal discipline getting some traction.  May there be much more.  Congratulations, Governor Walker.
