Thursday miscellanea #154

  • I love football.  I love lows in the 50s.  I love fall.
  • Locals, particularly soccer parents:  the Trail of Tears ride is this weekend, which basically means that if you’re not already enclosed by 72, County Line Rd., and Madison Boulevard and you need to get somewhere so enclosed (like Palmer or Dublin), your route shall be rather circuitous.  Plan accordingly.  On the plus side, Madison says it’s going to open Gillespie next week, restoring another east-west through the city.
  • Turned in a 14,300-step Tuesday this week, because I got behind on Monday.  Up in that territory, it becomes a time thing more than anything else.  I’m still enjoying it in general.  I’m beginning to wonder if the word “jog” might not appear in several more pounds.
  • I know you’ll be as pleased to hear as I was that Charlie Sheen is now “a lot calmer.”  No word on whether this means he no longer has the blood of royal lions, or whatever it was.
  • I remember when an 80-megabyte hard drive was a $300 upgrade for a desktop computer.  I just had an SD card with 100 times that capacity delivered to my door for $11.  I didn’t shop it, so for all I know I got killed on it even at that price.
  • You want to see a Corvette with 1,400 horsepower crash at 230 mph?  Click here. The driver walked away.
  • My remaining HD-DVDs are American Gangster, Casino, King Kong, A Scanner Darkly, and 300.  I enjoyed them all, but I’m not sure I feel strongly enough about any of them to pick them up on Blu-ray.  I still have my perfectly-working and hooked-up Xbox 360 add-on drive, so I have them in high-def whenever I want them for the moment.
