EAA AirVenture 2010: static shots

Here is a sampling of the photographs I took at EAA AirVenture 2010 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, last weekend.  This post features static shots only.  For action shots, see this post.

This is a prototype of the Icon personal aircraft (and the only other aircraft besides the Trimotor that made me grin like a moron whenever I looked at it).  They were taking pre-orders for $129,000.

I loved the interior.  It reminds me of a mid-year (’63-’67) Corvette.

Here is the HondaJet.  They’re expected to be $3.6 million or so when they go on sale next year, so we’re only going to get two of them.

A Mitsubishi A6M Zero, the fighter the Japanese used in the attack on Pearl Harbor.  I believe I understood the gentleman to say that this is the only flying Zero left in the world.

Dad and Drennen have some fun with our name.

The Shadow 200 UAV.

An A-4 Skyhawk.  John McCain was shot down in one of these.

Dad at the hot end of an F-4.  Wow, that’s really a huge fighter.

  1. Kemtee, yup, and the soldiers friggin’ love ’em. It was extremely painful at times making it a mature product, but it’s there now.

  2. I didn’t think there were ANY surviving Zeroes. In fact, I seem to recall that all the old classic WWII movies about the Pacific Theater (“Tora, Tora, Tora,” “Midway,” etc…) used mocked-up AT-4 Texans for Zeroes.

  3. Heh heh. I sat in the theater grooving on the “SURROUND SOUND” that was being pioneered for movies such as Midway, while my little brother cowered on the floor covering his ears, crying.

I didn’t realize Midway was an OLD Classic. Am I that old?
