As I’ve said before, there are no good solutions to this problem, but I think targeted air strikes are one of the less bad options.
Joe Biden recently took a diplomatically disastrous trip to Israel. (Who better to send on a state visit to a critical ally in the least stable part of the world than your babbling lunatic uncle, right?) However, it may well pay a positive dividend.
If it wasn’t before, surely it’s clear to Israel now that the United States thinks a little less of her than might have once been the case. Maybe that will translate into less deference to stated American wishes, and ultimately a few sorties.
If not, maybe we can get President Obama and the United Nations to speak extremely forcefully to Iran about ending its nuclear program. That’s certain to do the trick.
