Happy Independence Day

Dear readers, the new dishwasher is installed, and it looks like grilled ribs, beer, and explosives from here on out.  I hope you have a similarly relaxing agenda today.

Please take just a moment today to consider and appreciate what we’re celebrating.  Quoting the Campaign for Liberty email in my inbox this morning:

On this day 233 years ago, our Founding Fathers stood up to the most powerful nation on earth and declared to the world that all men are created with rights that cannot justifiably be taken away by any government.

Putting their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor on the line, they persevered in a hard-fought Revolution to create an experiment in liberty unlike any other in history.

Though they would be outraged by how far the federal government has drifted from their vision, I am confident they would be proud of our growing movement to reclaim the Republic they sacrificed so much to leave us.

Today, we can commemorate their courage, celebrate their achievements, and rededicate ourselves to ensuring the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.

I hope you have a marvelous Independence Day.

  1. My wife and I spent our 4th at the Huntsville Tea Party. Great people, inspirational speakers, fireworks, good food, and good music. It was the best Independence Day in a long, long time.

  2. Bob, I’ve heard from several corners that it was a high-quality event. I doubt I’d have attended even if I’d known about it–I’ve got a pretty specific idea of how I want most Independence Days to go–but I’m on the list now to be informed of future events. Glad you guys had a good time.
