A budding chef in our midst

So on the end of a conversation about daily chores this evening, Nathan threw in that he’d like to learn to start cooking.  Good idea, son.  We’re overdue for you to start learning some basics.  I remembered my beloved Young Children’s Mix and Fix Cookbook from my childhood, and thanks to my wife’s marvelous organizational skills, had my hands on it in less than two minutes.

I adored this book.  I got it for my sixth birthday from my next door friend Jonathan.  My mom and I made probably two-thirds of the things in it, and when we weren’t cooking with it, I’d just read it for fun.  I hadn’t seen it in many years when I got it out for Nathan tonight, and it was like an old friend.

He’s tackling Cinnamon Moons tonight.  Note the authentic, 34-year-old cinnamon-butter stain on the page:

Great memories, renewed for a new generation!
