Uh, folks? Corn in the mashed potatoes is something one tolerates as part of the TV dinner experience, not something one actively seeks to consume.

As I understand it, KFC and A&W Restaurants are owned by Pepsico through a holding company called YUM. Wish I had made the billions of food stamps thinking it up but NO. While A&W seems to have retained most of the qualities Mssrs. Allen and Wright instilled just before the 1920s, It seems to me KFC has sort of fallen apart some into a buffet instead of a chicken take-out. The food is still good, the green beans seem to be a proper thing but the BISCUITS can go to HELL and soon!
The buns that came before were simply wonderful, even better would be an upgrade, say King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls (don’t know if they are sold nationally). If you thought Pizza Hut’s crust was too oily, KFC biscuits died of thirst and rapidly decompose in your hand. A POX on the house of YUM for having DOUGH yet being CHEAP.
Remember when you could throw the potatoes away and just eat the KFC gravy, it was so good? Hell of a long time ago, wasn’t it? ‘Course, when I worked at Taco Bell (another YUM property) in 1987:
the beef was 9% MSG by weight;
the beans were prepared from dry beans on-site every day and were 9% lard by weight; and
all of the yellow corn products were deep-fried on-site every day in 100% coconut oil.
It’s not in your head. Taco Bell used to taste much better.
I never liked the chicken (or any fried chicken), but I will drive miles for the coleslaw!
You actually think that getting one’s corn mixed into one’s mashed potatoes is unappealing? Honestly, sometimes I feel like I don’t know you at all. Corn and mashed potatoes, mixed together, is possibly the most beautiful comfort food imagineable. If this particular combination didn’t also result in my blood sugar plummeting like a rock, I’d probably have it for lunch every day of my life. (Although not with KFC’s crappy excuse for mashed potatoes. Their potatoes are about as close as one can come to serving wallpaper paste as food without pissing off the FDA.)
