Thursday miscellanea #638

There is no winter storm here. In fact, it’s 20-25º warmer than seasonal, which means we’re running the air conditioning at home in February. Looking at the forecast for the next two weeks, I think I’m going to open the crawlspace vents this weekend. (And get a jump on spring tasks.)
On the topic of spring tasks: be advised that poison ivy can lay waste to you well before there are any leaves. Don’t go plopping yourself down pretzel-style in dormant fauna. (Some dumbass I know did that last year about this time.)
I finally made friends with the Publix downtown. I had never explored where to park if the little north side lot was full. Turns out there’s a Publix-only first floor in the garage across Pelham Ave. from the store, and it’s easy to use.
I’ve declared war on “reach out.” People say it all the time now, and I don’t care for the false earnestness that, in my perception, it conveys. You never need “reach out.” Say you called, or you contacted. Say thanks for prompting me. And so on. Go forth and sin no more.
I watched The Menu on HBO Max last night. It’s just a little gassed by the end, but it’s an enjoyable horror comedy with several laugh-out-loud moments.
Amazon has had a pharmacy for a while, and now OneMedical is here. It’s an intriguing development.
Gotten a couple of questions on this so I’ll put the answer here too: there are indeed real Rolex watches for sale from Facebook advertisers, but they will almost always be pre-owned, and they will always cost several to many thousands of dollars. No “Rolex” you see for sale on Facebook with a two-digit or three-digit price is genuine, no matter what the ad says. I promise.
