Thursday miscellanea #592

  • Juneteenth is official!
  • I have profiles in the works on a local restaurateur extraordinaire, as well as a brilliant area singer-songwriter. Watch this space, as they say.
  • Wings too.
  • So between the email I received this morning and my ongoing tally when I log into Amazon.com, I have determined that I am responsible for more than 6% of AmazonSmile’s total donations to my church all by myself. I’m at once pleased and horrified.
  • Coming soon:  a new edition of the ridiculous Gene Simmons Vault box set that is “only” $500. (Previously the least expensive version was $2,000.) It contains 166 unreleased Gene Simmons songs and assorted box set detritus. I will say that there are more than a few crappy Gene Simmons songs that got released, so how good could 166 that didn’t possibly be?
  • Windows 11 “leaked.” It looks cool and safe, just as I would expect. I still cry for Windows Phone.
  • You got a train set (or other modeling, or art, or…) person in your life? Or are you one? You should definitely check out Micro-Mark. It’s my favorite printed catalog that comes to the house. I find something I want on every page. I want these tiny wrenches despite having absolutely no need or anticipated need for them.
  • The summer solstice approaches, which means soon the days will begin getting shorter again. I am just fine with this. It will also mark six months of teetotalism for me.
