The SSC Tuatara has set new production car speed records for a flying mile (313 mph) and single-point top speed (331 mph). Three hundred thirty-one miles per hour.
I really want to pull the trigger on the new Atari VCS, but it’s just a bit beyond screw-it money for me. I’d love to have the included Atari game library, but there are other ways to play most of those games. Plus, I already have a PC I like hanging off my TV, so that capability doesn’t have much value for me. I’ll keep an eye on it. (I think at maybe $269 this bullet would be about how much I’m looking forward to playing with it.)
I just finished the first, and apparently only, season of Away on Netflix. This is appealing hard science fiction with lights-out acting and direction, eminently decent writing, and good production. So, of course, they’ve canceled it seven weeks after its debut. Boo, Netflix.
We’re getting a Buc-ee’s at I-65 and Brown’s Ferry. As the Toyota-Mazda plant opens, the Greenbrier Parkway is completed, and Brown’s Ferry is four-laned, I expect that exit to be covered up in three years or less. Locals are ecstatic about the Buc-ee’s, by the way. I don’t understand that. Do you go to hyper-enormous “travel center” gas stations/convenience stores in your own town?
Tony Lewis, lead singer of The Outfield, just died. He was 62. Thank you for your contributions to the soundtrack of my formative years, sir. RIP.
The final IndyCar race of the season is Sunday at 1:30 on NBC. The championship is Scott Dixon’s to lose. It would be his sixth. The only person who could plausibly catch him is our Nashville boy Josef Newgarden. It would be his third.
Our last 80s of the season might come tomorrow. It’s about to get seasonal again.
