- The North Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force is having an event on Saturday, January 25, at 9 am at Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntsville. Our featured speakers will be Linda Smith, president of Shared Hope International; and Resident Agent Doug Gilmer of the Department of Homeland Security, who will discuss the financial aspects of human trafficking. These are two fantastic speakers. There is no cost to attend the event. Hope to see you there.
- We finally have Mike Leach in the SEC as a head coach! Who’s pumped for a Leach vs. Kiffin Egg Bowl?
- Clearly I’ll have a lot to say about this latest United Methodist Church proposal, but I haven’t spoken frankly with my pastor about it yet, and I want to do that first. (This is mostly to ensure that I opine productively. I haven’t been conflicted about gay marriage in several decades.)
- Lea and I are caught up through the end of Season 6 of The Blacklist. This show is so good at some things, yet so bad at others. Definitely it’s more compelling than not, and the season 6 finale was one of the best episodes.
- I went back to Cricket’s today. Watch for an updated review.
- With the Saints out of the playoffs at the first opportunity, my only real horse is the Packers. Should they fall, I can muster some limited enthusiasm for the Titans or the Ravens.
- 1917 is out. The boys and I will see it soon. (I’m pretty excited they’re so excited about it, actually.)

I’ve seen lots of good movies this season, but for some reason, the trailers for that one do not make the movie seem appealing at all. I don’t know. I usually hate war flicks. So…
They’re both (already) much larger history buffs than I’ve ever been, thanks to stimulating teachers. I’m intrigued because I’ve read that the entire film is composed as one shot. That’s extraordinary, when you think about it.
