Thursday miscellanea #488

Well, I don’t know that I ever considered it before, but with the championship games, the Army-Navy game, and the bottom-tier bowls, college football hits every Saturday in December now.
I think Tua really did get rooked out of the Heisman in one bad game. That’s OK. I expect the second coming of Gino Torretta in the Oklahoma game.
My traditionally difficult Christmas gift purchases were pretty doggone easy this year. Haven’t talked to Lea about cards yet, though. Generally she gets the photos and the boys and I assemble, write, and mail. But like I said, we haven’t exchanged a single word about it. I’ll do that tonight or tomorrow, but this might be your Christmas card right here. Merry Christmas!
Seen on Twitter and enjoyed with several friends: isn’t it funny how “have a nice day” is a perfectly fine thing to say, but “enjoy your next 24 hours” sounds like a threat?
OK, now I’m finally seriously into The Americans and it’s admirably serving its purpose of getting me on the treadmill. It just barely hung on for about seven episodes, and then it clicked for me. I could still take or leave the female lead, but I no longer consider her a liability.

We have a long, cold winter ahead, and I am afraid I will have to make friends with the treadmill, at least a little bit. Perhaps Netflix adaptation of Watership Down? With their warning to parents that it isn’t for kids, it gives me hope they will do it justice.
