Thursday miscellanea #455

  • Lea and I are watching Luther together in the evenings, and I’m watching the BBC documentary on Auschwitz on the treadmill. Happier shows next. Definitely happier shows next.
  • I accidentally drank a real Mountain Dew this morning, and didn’t notice until it was about two-thirds gone. Damn. I hate wasting calories. There went 170 of them for no good reason.
  • Roger Bannister, the first man to run a sub-4-minute mile, has died at 81. His name is a Scholar’s Bowl/Trivial Pursuit detail I’ve never had trouble remembering for some reason. RIP. (As amazing as his feat was, the current record is 3:43.13, if you can believe that.)
  • The IndyCar season finally starts on Sunday, and we’re starved for it at my house. Unfortunately Sunday’s weather forecast for St. Petersburg is terrible as I type. They’ll run in rain on a street course, but not in a driving thunderstorm. Fingers crossed.
  • Had lunch at Phuket last week, and then again this week. They must do a bustling dinner business indeed. It doesn’t get to even 20% occupied during lunch.
  • I have stuff to sell. I know the cool kids use craigslist these days, but there is a lot that I like about the eBay experience.
  • Daylight Saving Time begins again this weekend. I don’t have a creative way to complain about it again at the ready, so I won’t. But I definitely would.
