A summertime guide to Anaheim Chili

You might have noticed I’m a big fan of Anaheim Chili. Talked about it here. And here. And here. And here.

I love this restaurant. It’s a rare week that I don’t eat there.

The geography, however, is rather inconvenient. Anaheim Chili is a solid hour round-trip from my house.

So I’d love a Madison location, or something near Research Park. When I ask Scott about it, though, he says he needs his current location to stop scaring him before thinking about expansion.

See, the place goes great guns for half the year. People love to eat chili when it’s cold. You need to get there early for lunch, or you’ll wait.

Traffic falls off when it’s warm, and it’s really for no good reason. In the first place, guess what? You can eat chili in the summertime too. I know. I did it today. Yesterday too.

In the second place, there is a menu full of all kinds of wonderful things like wings, specialty sausages, and some of the best burgers in the area. I’m a big fan of the serrano burger, and I built a great deal of affection for the black bean burger during my Lenten vegetarianism. You eat that stuff all year long, right? Go eat it at Anaheim Chili.

In the third place, they have an extensive beer menu, including all of the best local offerings.

You have a lot of reasons to visit Anaheim Chili all year long. Help a guy get his Madison location, please.

Hey, come out this weekend for the Father’s Day Weekend Inferno! From Friday at 5:00 through Saturday closing, Anaheim Chili will have special spicy menu items available. I’m looking forward to it. Looks like they have chorizo-stuffed jalapenos, spicy brisket chili, a chicken sandwich with jalapeno bacon and pepper jack, and chipotle brownies!

  1. We took Mom there this weekend. You know she is NOT in the least an adventurous eater, and she LOVED it.

She had a grilled cheese with a side of watermelon and mint salad. I can’t think of anything more summery than that.

I had gumbo (special of the day) and it was a treat. Smokier than the style my Cajun boy makes, but an adept offering.
