I am not upset about the federal government shutdown, which, as I type, looks inevitable.
However, I do hope it is long enough to generate understanding in some of the depressingly large number of people who still don’t get the sorry shape we’re in. I hope it is short enough to keep hardship manageable for the numerous innocents harmed by it.
This crisis exists because the Democrat-dominated 110th Congress, for nakedly political reasons, brazenly shirked its constitutional duty to pass a budget. This crisis has been aggravated because we have a president incapable of genuine leadership.
(Actually we’re to this point because the Republicans want to kill old people and deny women health care, and the valiant Democrats are fighting for them, because absolutely no one else will. What was I thinking?)
Go read kemtee for more, and while you’re there please tell her how awesome she is so she’ll blog more often.

I will go read Kemtee later because she is awesome and should blog more. I’m not going to do it now because I need to sleep tonight and if I get myself worked up about the political stuff I will be awake all night. Unfortunately, right now it is not that difficult for me to get worked up about politics. Sigh.
Kicked on down the road for another few days!
