So on the end of a conversation about daily chores this evening, Nathan threw in that he’d like to learn to start cooking. Good idea, son. We’re overdue for you to start learning some basics. I remembered my beloved Young Children’s Mix and Fix Cookbook from my childhood, and thanks to my wife’s marvelous organizational skills, had my hands on it in less than two minutes.
I adored this book. I got it for my sixth birthday from my next door friend Jonathan. My mom and I made probably two-thirds of the things in it, and when we weren’t cooking with it, I’d just read it for fun. I hadn’t seen it in many years when I got it out for Nathan tonight, and it was like an old friend.
