Red Brick’s “beer from around here”

In the summer of 1996, a year before Lea and I married, she went to Atlanta on business.  I drove over to enjoy dinner and an evening with her, and I enjoyed a Red Brick Ale or two.  It was the first time I consciously participated in what is now a favorite tradition of mine—when out of town, drink a local craft brew.  Anymore, you’re going to be able to do that almost anywhere.

Red Brick Ale was a favorite of mine for a while, and I’d usually have one whenever I saw it available.  As my tastes veered more toward pale ales and (especially) India pale ales, Red Brick drifted further off my radar.

Then, I saw Red Brick Pale Ale at my local Publix yesterday.  Happy times.  The beer is tasty, but the packaging is outstanding.  Howdy from flyover country:

If that offends you, then bless your heart!

Suspect, indeed:

Of course I’m not going to have to write in my name:

  1. What? No “Cooper?” “Scooter?” Shoot.

Me, I like northern brews. Especially that fine Canadian stuff. Got my good ol’ boy husband hooked on it, too.

  2. ‘seester, I loved it. There are lots of other ones I didn’t post, like “all proceeds go towards brewing more tasty Red Brick beers.”

Kemtee, I understand. It’s a rare beer indeed that I can say absolutely nothing positive about. Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic is the only one coming to mind.
