But a nuclear Iran is a worse one.
Recall that, in unusually candid comments, a United Arab Emirates diplomat endorsed a strike on Iran last month.
Watch the skies, Mahmoud.

Why do the military options to these situations always have to be air strikes or cruise missile strikes or drone strikes? Have the U.S. and her allies forgotten that they have the world’s top special operations units at their disposal? Especially the Israelis, who arguably have THE best SpecOps troops on the planet?
A commando unit could infiltrate Iran and disable that reactor at any time without the worry of radioactive fallout. You don’t have to blow the damn thing all over kingdom come to a) disable it and b) send a message to Iran that they will not be tolerated as a nuclear-armed state.
This kind of mindset among the political and military leaders, especially here in the US, just frustrates the hell out of me. I recently read an article from the New York Times (hey, occassionally they do print something worth reading 🙂 ) about how Obama is expanding America’s “shadow war” against terrorists all over the world (Somalia, Yemen, etc…). The problem is that the strikes continue to be via smart bombs, cruise missiles, and drones. Why is that a problem? Two words: collateral damage. One strike not only took out a terrorist leader, but also a local government official who was apparently one of the good guys.
Think of it this way, too – one of the biggest outcries against the war on terror was that it actually created more terrorists than it killed. Well, when you kill a bunch of innocents as well as your target, you are only supporting that theory.
A single bullet to the head doesn’t create collateral damage.
