I really loved Mona Charen’s piece today on Interlochen, a summer music program where excellence remains genuine.
I really hope that in my lifetime, we can rediscover the at-large courage to say without shame that some people are better at some activities than others. I also hope we can rediscover a sociocultural backbone that reliably says that while it’s important and commendable to befriend children, it’s unquestionably more important to parent them.
Just call me a crazy old conservative. On those counts, anyway.
