Meet one of my guilty pleasures. This is Alecia Moore, much better known as Pink (or P!nk, but that’s a little cutesy). She’s a pop music performer and sometime actress, and a rather in-your-face sort of woman. (Très sexy.)
Her new album Funhouse came out a couple of weeks ago. It’s loud, fun, occasionally goofy, periodically brilliant, and a little bit too long. This is the fourth Pink album in a row for which I’ve had pretty much that exact assessment, so she’s a pretty reliable “get” for me. I don’t have to have heard something to pick it up. The title cut is my favorite so far.
I thought way back when she first broke that she’d have an opportunity at a long career because her voice was so strong. Her writing has matured a lot in the intervening years. And delightfully, she’s remained unafraid of loud and crunchy guitars.
I don’t really have a good feel for how “cool” it is to like Pink in late 2008. She was a brief bit of commonality I had with my oh-so-hip niece, but I think it’s now long passed. In any case, if you like well-crafted pop with an edge, Pink does a marvelous job. She really is a cut above her “peers.”

Hm…I’ve heard of her but never listed to any of her music. I just checked my Winamp library and I only have three Pinks: Pink Anderson (1 track), Pink Floyd (21 tracks) and Pink Skull (1 track).
Nah nah nah naaaah nah nah nah, you’re gonna start a fight.
She is pretty hot. If was a man (or a lesbian) I’d do her.
Cheryl: The tragedy will be if she decides she’s gay and not bi.
Though I mourned the loss of Jodie Foster and the (probable) loss of Cynthia Nixon, dear Ms. Moore would be the first one to make me muse “can I just be a lesbian for a couple of days?” 😀
Joani and I watched a concert of hers on HDNET, it was quite good. I have also enjoyed the singles, but never ponied up for a full CD. (Album for us old foggies)
She is indeed smokin hot
Ok..I’ve fought this battle with Bo for years. Michelle Branch is hotter and more talented, but if I get a semi-seal of approval from Buzzregog, I’ll give Pink more of a chance. After all, Bo was always too much of a eye candy supporter of Hillary Clinton. I’m happy Dave remembers enough to bust Bo on his admiration of the former first lady. 🙂
Also, I respect Cheryl’s opinion (which gave considerable more eye opening brain candy). A kindrid spirit of the percieved mediocracy of the ACC.
Charles, Pink has gobs of talent. Believe it.
On this other matter, let the record show that we are talking about Hillary in 1991, at which time a) her doability was rather more defensible; and b) I was 20 years old.
I don’t know about the “perceived” part, Charles. It’s pretty mediocre. But, with your new coach, UNC’s new coach, the revival of Miami (and maybe FSU), and hopefully a good hire at my alma mater the league is going to get much better– and fast!
By the way, I hope we steal your coach. 🙂
J/K (sorta)
There is not a powerhouse ACC team this year. That is for sure. That being said, the ACC may very well could occupy the AP 15-26. 😉
You can’t have my coach! I’m still enjoying my “man-crush” wayyyyy too much!
