Now Nathan’s sick; all the same symptoms. To Lea, earlier tonight: “But I don’t want to be sick!”
The boys couldn’t have it together at any point, of course. Nathan’s just coming down with it right as Aaron’s getting over it.
Nathan and I had planned to go to the lake this weekend. He hasn’t been talking about it today, and I really hope he’s forgotten. I’d be just fine with skirting that particular disappointment.

So, have you gotten it yet?
Yes, I think so. I had some very mild symptoms (no vomiting) Tuesday and Wednesday this week that I likely wouldn’t have noticed as such had I not been watching for them. I suspect that sometime in the past I was infected with a virus similar, but not identical, to the one the boys have, and consequently I was mostly immune.
Same thing may be going on with Nathan, actually. He threw up and had low-grade fever last night, but Lea says he’s been fine all day with no further symptoms, and he sounded like his regular happy self when I talked to him on the telephone this morning (whereas Aaron was miserable and quite ill for three days, and listless for another two).
We’re keeping Nathan out of soccer practice tonight–24-hour rule on fever–but if his mend holds, we’ll go to his game tomorrow, and probably the lake at some point this weekend.
