We moved Aaron into the University of Alabama on Saturday. It’s his first time going to college. However, he’s already a sophomore, thanks to AP credit, excellent teachers (most notably Mrs. Bonnie Jacques), and a much stronger work ethic than I had at his age.
The initial experience is so much different from when we took Amelia (then Nathan) only two years ago. All three of us were still pretty shell-shocked from the events of the previous several weeks. Though we’ve successfully navigated the two years from then to now (and thank God for that), they were some hard miles.
I’m thankful that my firstborn is doing well, and I’m thankful for the perspective that period has provided. But I don’t want to do it again.
The positives and negatives with Aaron have been more predictable, I think. I don’t want to tell his business, but I’ll just generally say that he’s got that cocktail of excitement and anxiety you’d expect. He has an opportunity to do something amazing, and when I ask him about that I think he gets it.
We moved Amelia the day before, but she came back home to finish a few things. She shoves off tonight.
Have a great semester, my beautiful children.
