Thursday miscellanea #620

  • Convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell will be sentenced next week. She’s 60, so an effective life sentence is on the table for her. Here’s hoping the detestable bitch gets exactly that.
  • Arch Manning verbally committed to Texas today. You know what? I don’t even pay attention to recruiting anymore. I don’t have to right now. Roll Tide.
  • I listened to all five Police studio albums back-to-back today. I’d never done that before, though knowing what I knew about each one I suspected Ghost in the Machine would be my favorite. And indeed, it is. (And I’ll confess I was embarrassingly old when I figured out the album cover was a representation of the members of the band, and not just a malfunctioning LED display.)
  • There are 18-foot, 215-pound snakes in the continental United States. Have a nice day.
  • My phone sent me into downtown Huntsville yesterday a way I hadn’t been, and I was amazed at the transformation. I’ll get down there on foot soon to have a better look around.
  • We’ve officially passed at my house on the sophomore running of the Music City Grand Prix. There was more good than bad about the trip last year, but it was quite expensive, and the heat was copious. However, I’ve already booked everything for next year’s Indy 500, and I think we’ll get to Barber in 2023 too.
  • There are still 90s forecast for the next two weeks—this is summer, after all—but there are no upper 90s in there. So that’s a bit of welcome relief.
