Thursday miscellanea #494

  • Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope the day is meeting your expectations.
  • Earth and Stone cofounder and chef Stan Stinson is playing with lamb belly bacon. Doesn’t that sound amazing?
  • We enjoyed our initial AAF games. Neither was competitive, but the talent and general polish of the experience are both there. We’ll watch again this weekend.
  • Bill Cosby has offered that he will never feel remorse, and further, has compared himself to Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nelson Mandela. (You know, just in case you had any lingering questions as to his ultimate legacy.) What a truly disappointing waste. It’s hard to imagine a single figure in my lifetime—certainly an entertainment figure—for whom such a crash-and-burn would be more tragic.
  • There’s a Heart tour, which is huge news. Ann and Nancy had a significant row and haven’t been speaking. I’ve never seen them. I’m rectifying that.
  • It’s not ultimately productive to find a “better” way to consume simple carbs, but if you just can’t put your salty snacks down completely, the Ritz Crisp & Thins are pretty awesome.
  • Yes, I’ll have to watch Daytona. Sigh. I wish they’d let me redesign NASCAR.

  1. Happy VD, friend. I absolutely hate valentine’s day. I am generally not a fan of mother’s day, father’s day, or any other variant that requires me to remember that restaurants might be busy when I am hungry. Like today. I’ve been thinking ALL week that Thursday after class is the day I want to go out to dinner, but dammitall, it’s valentine’s day tonight, and I forgot. Crappity crap.
