Thursday miscellanea #483

  • Looking forward to seeing some old Oxford friends this weekend. Several attendees will be folks I make an effort to see anyway, but a few I will have not seen in 32 years.
  • My latest favorite defensible food to keep around is a big bowl of black beans, mixed with goodly portions of chopped onions and peppers.
  • So I watched the first two episodes of Cobra Kai. I’d say I’m right down the middle of the intended demographic, and the show is well-regarded, but it didn’t take with me. I have it at about a C-, with no desire to continue. It just seems contrived, with very little pop in the acting or writing.
  • The older boy listens to Spotify while he does his homework, if the homework is conducive to such. Tonight it went Ozzy, Dio, Saxon, Megadeth…
  • For the good game I can generally talk when discussing someone else’s life, I recently found it alarmingly easy to allow someone to unduly influence my mood. I’m thankful for the growth opportunity, though I am a little embarrassed that it’s necessary.
  • This weekend’s visit to Ole Miss is probably a must-win for Auburn to have a winning season.
  • Barely a 70 in the forecast. Lots of 40s through 60s, though. Looks like fall to me.
