• I’m on a Facebook hiatus until Monday, October 15. If you and I normally interact there, don’t assume I’ll see anything you do until then.
• We rented Born Racer last night. We enjoyed it, but I was a little underwhelmed after seeing such consistently glowing net press. It just feels like a cable TV documentary.
• It is becoming reasonable to wonder whether Tua Tagovailoa will see the fourth quarter in any regular season game. I’ve always thought two-quarterback “systems” were garbage, but with Jalen Hurts closing the door on the redshirt question this past Saturday, the 2018 Alabama season may become the ultimate refutation of such a belief.
• Remember “Sweetheart” by Franke and the Knockouts? I’ve always loved that song. This week I learned that Franke Previte co-wrote both Eric Carmen’s “Hungry Eyes” and Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley’s “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” So he’s kind of Mr. Dirty Dancing.
• I heated one of my favorite high-fiber low-carb tortillas up to just-beginning-to-burn this week, and it actually smelled like wood. Cellulose is the third ingredient, and people use that to say “there is sawdust in our food!” (It’s not quite that simple, but this was anecdotally interesting.)
• I used to get so mad when my mother would make me wear a coat with my Halloween costume. Quaint thought as we swelter, yes?
