It has been many years since I watched first-run network television, so I’m not used to thinking about it. So I forgot Wayward Pines premiered last night. Fortunately, it’s available to see here.
This has drawn a lot of comparisons to Twin Peaks, but I see that only superficially in that they’re both “sleepy little burgs where something isn’t quite right.” The first episode of Wayward Pines actually reminds me very much of Stephen King’s short story You Know They Got a Hell of a Band.
It’s bent, and the cast is awesome. I enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to future episodes.

OK, similar title, similar title card, and there’s the agent coming to a small town thing. These are all superficial things, and a nod at worst. It’s not a Twin Peaks ripoff. The dynamics are completely different.
