“I’m not drinking again until I don’t hate my body anymore.”
So said I, a week ago today. Labor Day was the first day in practice. I’ve never pushed that particular button. Feels like an ICBM.
To be sure, I’m doing several other things anyone trying to lose weight should be doing, as well. But I’ve done all those things before. This is the first time I’ve axed beer. Does that make it the first time I’m truly serious? Perhaps.
It’s been a fantastic first week. I’ll be down at least three pounds tomorrow morning, and four isn’t out of the question.
Now I haven’t totally lost the results of previous efforts. When I started last week, I was still 24 pounds off my all-time high. But, I was 11 pounds heavier than where I got to on (recent) previous efforts.
So what’s my particular motivation this time? Well, you didn’t see all of the ice bucket video. As unflattering as it is, there is some really bad footage edited out.
Judging from my insufficient corrective action, much of me had apparently made peace with having the physique of a Weeble.
But I ain’t havin’ moobs.
