Thursday miscellanea #261

  • Aren’t you glad I’m not posting periodic photographic updates of my missing toenail?
  • The Bo Williams Bowl is tomorrow night! My Oxford Yellow Jackets come to town to play my Bob Jones Patriots in a state playoff game.
  • My recent experience with a well-known computer manufacturer has been less than stellar. It’s a shame, because they’ve been a go-to for me for many years. I’ll wait for resolution on my (still open) issue before deciding whether to blog further about it.
  • Upward started this week. I have such a good time coaching, and after just one practice I can tell you I’ve got some great boys. We’re going to have a fantastic time.
  • Here’s a fun, if a bit sparse, piece on game console wars through the ages. We had an Atari 2600. Then I bought a Sega Genesis. That was it until I bought an Xbox. Now we have a Wii and an Xbox 360. (My Xbox is still hooked up and ready to go too, mostly so I can play Blood Wake, which remains tragically unsequeled to this day.) As I’ve said before, I’ll get an Xbox One when I need it to play a new Halo or BioShock game. Maybe I’ll benefit from a price cut by then.
  • I couldn’t convince any of my Twitter followers this week that a peanut butter and mayonnaise sandwich was well worth trying. I did encounter a suggestion of a peanut butter and sriracha sandwich. I won’t judge until I try it, but it’ll have to be midday sometime.
  • Are multiple mornings in the mid-20s customary in early November? I don’t think so.

    • I would assume 7, ‘seester. And do come down. The Oxford fight song, “Champions,” is one of the killerest pieces of music of all-time. I am so honored to have been a part of that band in my life.

  1. I dropped a can on my big toe in August. Toenail turned totally black. It still hasn’t fallen off, so I’m assuming that it won’t.

I have tried peanut butter in all kinds of combinations, the weirdest probably peanut butter and fried bologna, but mayo or sriracha sounds gross.

    • Miria, the force that has led to the loss of my third toenail to port was on the opposite axis. I’ve had that force from above before. Black spot, grows out, done. This was me ramming it into a gate from the front.

You have to try peanut butter and mayonnaise. It has to be mayonnaise, not Miracle Whip.

I may give the sriracha a go this weekend sometime.
