Thursday miscellanea #235

• I’ve apparently lost the battle against web pages that start playing video without me explicitly asking for it.  Wow, I can’t stand that.
• I’ve made enough chili in the past week that my enthusiasm for eating the rest of it is ebbing somewhat.  There’s a bowl of Texas and a bowl of home-style left.  I’ll need to eat the former by Saturday lunch.  (Hmmm…perhaps huevos rancheros one morning?)
• I forced the Windows Phone 7.8 update on my phone months ago.  Today AT&T officially pushed it (real Johnny-on-the-spot there, eh, AT&T?), and for some reason it made me go through the whole thing again.  I’m glad it was at the end of the day, because it took 20 minutes or so, and I’d have had to wait on it to go to work had I done it in the morning.  (Too much chance of bricking it interrupting an update.)
• Want to bid on one of Coach Saban’s places on Lake Burton?  No-reserve auction June 6.  It was previously listed for $10,950,000.
• Everyone got really excited about the Jodi Arias verdict yesterday.  I didn’t have any idea who it was, so I had to read up on it.  She’s a cute convicted murderer.
• I’ll get a new pair of glasses early next week.  I don’t wear them often, but I like to have a pair to give my eyes a rest from contacts once in a while, and for at home in the evening.  My current pair has photochromic lenses, which I loathed nearly immediately.  They go full dark in 30 seconds flat, and take 10 minutes to recover fully.  (And for about 8 of those 10 minutes, you look like a suspected child molester mug shot from 1977.)
• Lea and I celebrate 16 years of marriage tomorrow.  She is an amazing wife and mother, and I’m so blessed.  Happy Anniversary, Lea.  I love you.
