My rod

This is my rod.  Do you like it?

My rod is my single favorite tool.  It’s stainless steel—SS316, to be exact—and it’s about half of a welding rod.  I used the other half to ground a marine aquarium.  (SS316 is particularly resistant to saltwater corrosion.)  I am comforted when I see it hanging on my pegboard.

It’s a good hook, and nearly endlessly customizable with a pair of needle-nose pliers.  It’s easy to bend, but strong enough to bend back without loss of strength.  It’s good for releasing sockets from my impact wrench.  It’s long enough to rake dropped items out from under the bottom utility shelf in the garage.  It unclogs caulk.

I love my rod.
