Gingrich storms South Carolina

So is this what happens now when a mainstream “news” outlet attempts to manufacture controversy, then time its release shamelessly to try to damage a front-running Republican?

Bring it!

Congratulations, Newt.  Keep playing your success with discretion and great things just might happen.

  1. There are several intriguing facets to this entire week.

    1. Southern conservative voters can spot a RINO 500 miles away. They don’t like Mitt, and they hate having him forced down their throats. New Hampshire is not a reliable measure of the pulse of conservatism. Mitt did not win a single precinct. Plus, SC primaries are closed, so they are a better measure than Iowa, too.

    2. I had a few conversations earlier this week with friends who seemed quite disheartened after only 2 primaries. That’s what the media wants us to do. The only candidate they want against Pres. Obama is Mitt. Why do conservatives keep falling for that? Over and over again? Don’t allow the media to tell us our voices are irrelevant because they’ve chosen.

    3. What happened to Cain was wrong, but it paved the way for someone stronger to expose the dipwads for all they are worth. They blew it by rinse, cycle, repeating. What they tried to do to Newt *might* have flown, had they not just done it to the prior not-mitt guy who was surging. They’ve desensitized the very people they were trying to sway with their sensationalism. The people are sick-to-fucking death of it. We have work to do to fix this country. The rest is distraction. Bread and Circuses.

I don’t “love” any of the candidates, but I will take a guy who admits his flaws instead of paying millions to bury them. At least I know what I am getting. And, after Clinton, the yardstick of fidelity as a requisite to being a leader is now, quite frankly, moot.

    Thank you, South Carolina.

  2. ‘seester, you’re on with this.

I don’t think the Romney team is prepared to deal with this. Their thoughts toward Newt have been the same as mine: he’ll take himself out. However, Newt seems to have found an aggressive-but-not-destructive groove. If he keeps it, he’ll be the nominee.
