You know, when “Nazi sex dolls” jumped out at me from the screen, I really didn’t think much of it. I just expected it to be a fake Rob Zombie movie trailer or something.
Nope. It was a real thing, according to author Graeme Donald. Hitler ordered sex dolls (called “gynoids” and/or “comforters”; enjoy that detail too) made for Third Reich troops in an effort to stop them from catching diseases from prostitutes. Only problem was they wouldn’t carry them, fearing embarrassment if captured.
The linked article says that after the Nazis couldn’t secure permission from a contemporary actress to model the dolls on her, they then chose to leave their faces blank. But then it says they have blonde hair and blue eyes, and eyes are facial features, are they not? So did they have just eyes? Well, that sounds sexy.
